Devon » Woolacombe accommodation

With over three miles of splendid sand and many awards for its immaculate facilities (which include Best British Beach, Blue Flag, and Best Family Resort), North Devon's Woolacombe is very popular among those who love the both surfers and beach-lovers. Sitting in a deep valley, the town is flanked by Morte Point and Baggy Point headlands, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of both the coast and the surroundings. The National Trust owns much of the moorland around.
Climbing Morte Point is rewarded with a fantastic view and the possibility of straying off the path if you feel like it, and even going up to Bull Point Lighthouse. Not far from here is Mortehoe, a village partially from Norman times with a church worth visiting.
Not that long ago, Woolacombe was a small fishing community, in which the local wealthy families set out to build an elegant resort so as to attract public to the newly popular sea bathing practice. The Regency appartments were built, and are open to this day.
Though Woolacombe lacks much in the way of nightlife, Ilfracombe is not very far away. Also in the immediate vicinity are several other small resorts and some very popular beaches.
